Do I need to renew any timber such as decking or joists?
You only need to replace any timber or woodwork that is damaged or rotten. If it is comparatively dry with a more or less even surface, it will be fine.
My roof has felt fitted, do I have to remove this prior to fitting the EPDM
The beauty of EPDM, is that you do not always have to strip of the old roof covering. If the roof decking is rotten or the felt is badly cracked and degraded, then you will have to lift up the old felt. If in reasonable level condition, then underlay can be laid over the existing felt and then the EPDM directly over the underlay.
Can I do the work in damp or rainy conditions?
To install an EPDM roof, ideally the temperature needs to be + 5 Deg C, and the weather needs to be dry.
I would like to waterproof my patio, is EPDM applicable?
EPDM is the ideal material to seal the roof to make way for a patio. You can concrete it, flag it or cover it with wooden decking.

Do I need to fix a lead flashing?
With EPDM rubber membrane, you do not need to fit a lead flashing, as you can feed the EPDM material directly into the wall to make a watertight sealed flashing.
Does EPDM get attacked by killer moss?
No! Because EPDM is inert and non porous, the moss does not have anything to feed off. Of course, to stop anything growing on your flat roof, you must periodically sweep away accumulated dirt or grime. With felt, asphalt or bitumen the dirt clings because of the porous and rough external coating covering.

EPDM is air and vapour permiuable, so condensation is reduced
